Last night Graileys hosted Dominique Demarville, the Chef de Cave of Veuve Clicquot. He was a kind a gracious speaker as he led us through an incredible line up of wines. The features of the tasting were the 2008 La Grande Dame Blanc and Rose- celebrating Dominique’s first year as Chef de Cave for Veuve Clicquot as well as his 10th anniversary with the House! 2004 Veuve La Grande Dame Blanc in Magnum acted as our intermezzo and then we moved into the rare and old portion of the evening which is always a treat- 1998 Veuve Clicquot La Grande Dame Rose in Magnum was followed by 1990 La Grande Dame Rose in Jerobaum. The wines were stunning!!! We couldn’t believe what a wonderful line up of wines we had and how perfectly they paired with Chef Sharon Hage’s menu!
Then, as it always happens, the dinner ended, and the members started popping corks! Opened after the dinner by our resident Mr. Champagne was a Magnum of 1979 Veuve Cave Privee Rose, 1990 Veuve Vintage Blanc, 1990 Bollinger RD (disgorged in 2003), and then to follow by the rest of the crew was 2015 Lucien Le Moine Echezeaux Grand Cru Burgundy, 2014 BOND Vecina, 2008 Hudelot Noellat Vosne Romanee Les Suchots, and as the perfect sweet finish to the evening we enjoyed 1995 Chateau d’Yquem in 750ml and 1996 Chateau d’Yquem in 375ml!
We love nights like these and hope to see you at our next Graileys Wine Dinner!
