2020 The Mascot Red Blend
Will Harlan’s 'The Mascot' shares the hallmarks of one of Napa Valley’s most elite wines, blending meticulous farming, expert winemaking, and prestigious vineyard pedigree. This wine serves as an accessible introduction to one of Napa Valley’s most upper-echelon Cabernet Sauvignons, showcasing the same commitment to quality that defines what is probably the region’s premier producer.‘ The Mascot’ was first made in 2008 as a wine for Will Harlan’s (heir to the Harlan Empire and son of Bill) friends and family. Today it’s a way to showcase the excellence of the young-vine fruit that will one day go into Harlan Estate, BOND, and Promontory. We’re incredibly lucky to secure a small allocation of this outstanding, fruit-forward Cabernet. While still a youngster, and a collectible in its own right, it is drinking beautifully right now with plenty of reserves in the tank for a decade or two. The Mascot gives us a unique chance to experience the stunning world-class fruit that will eventually be selected to create the big boys. This is a masterclass in truly great winemaking at a mere fraction of the price of its heavyweight relatives.
