2019 Stonestreet Upper Barn Chardonnay
We just tasted the mesmerizing Double 95 Point 2019 Stonestreet Upper Barn Chardonnay. To those of you who are already familiar with this peak domestic Chardonnay, it will come as no surprise that we were amazed at how this team continue to knock it out of the park vintage after vintage, consistently rivaling the best that Burgundy has to offer. In the autumn of 1989, Jess Jackson acquired the Zellerbach winery and renamed it in honor of his late father, Jess Stonestreet Jackson. Stonestreet quickly garnered international acclaim for their powerful reds and luscious whites, but the Upper Barn Chardonnay has surpassed everything, becoming a regular thing of beauty. The stars continue to align as this vineyard insists on producing wines with density and a dreamy mix of aromatics and texture. The profile of the 2019 Upper Barn is both opulent and elegant, with aromas of stargazer lily, kumquat, and fennel, with the unique concentration and structure that will only improve with cellaring. This wine is perfectly balanced with flavors of honeycomb, nectarine preserves, and almond. The finish is round and mouthwatering, with lingering flavors on the palate. The Upper Barn represents the ongoing battle between the Old & New World, and wines like this one show the gap has narrowed significantly.

2018 Immortal Estate Slope Cabernet Sauvignon
100 Point Winemaker Timothy Milos created Hidden Ridge Vineyard in 2004, in collaboration with Marco DiGiulio, and has been the sole winemaker since 2008. With an impressive resume including stellar stints at Stag`s Leap, Opus One and Cliff Lede, he is now working with new owners Randy Nichols and Tim Martin (co-owner Tusk Estates) on the acclaimed Hidden Ridge property. Its unique terroir has produced wines which have earned the ultimate in wine accolades, a 100-point perfect score from Robert Parker. The 96 Point 2018 Immortal Slope is a powerful, dense wine of great depth and endless complexity, but very accessible in its youth, it will continue to evolve for decades. Summed up by Robert Parker Jr. as “clearly world-class Cabernet," it is priced at a mere fraction of its similarly rated competitors. The 'Slope' delivers truly outstanding value, and the quality/cost ratio of this monster Cabernet will blow your mind. We sold out of the 2017 in short order, and we anticipate the even higher rated 2018 to fly out exactly the same way.
