2021 Vincent Girardin Puligny-Montrachet Vielles Vignes

The history of Maison Vincent Girardin is relatively recent. In 1980, at the age of 19, Vincent Girardin, the son of a family of winegrowers based in Santenay since the 17th century, decided to strike out on his own and began producing wine from five acres of vines that he had inherited from his parents. It was only in the early 2000's with the arrival of Eric Germain as winemaker that a profound change began to take place. They decided to concentrate on the essence of the wines: the expression of the great terroirs of Burgundy. A new purity of style was born, and his immense talent shone through in the quality of his wines, which were quickly recognized as serious contenders by Burgundy connoisseurs worldwide. In 2012 Girardin sold his operation to a long-standing partner of the Maison, but Eric Germain continues to uphold the impeccable style of the wines. The 2021 Vincent Girardin Puligny-Montrachet 'Les Vieilles Vignes' is made from 40 year old vines, aged in oak for 14 months but without lees stirring to retain freshness and elegance while gaining complexity. Showing classic floral & citrus notes with a fine mineral finish, this is a first-class Puligny-Montrachet for the price of a seat in coach.
