Often called “Professor Chardonnay,” David has worked in wine since the 1970s and championed practices such as native-yeast fermentation, sur-lie aging, whole-cluster pressing, and bottling without filtration, all of which shaped the contemporary American Chardonnay style. This 2023 bottling is made from 100% Chardonnay grapes sourced from multiple cool-climate Russian River Valley sites planted between 1978–2017 on prized Goldridge loam soils, which help preserve acidity and aromatic complexity.
