2013 Arcanum Valadorna Toscana IGT
The 2019 Altesino Brunello di Montalcino 2019 (375 ml) comes from one of Montalcino’s most historically innovative estates, founded in 1970 and known for pioneering modern techniques in Brunello production, including introducing the region’s first single-vineyard (“cru”) Brunello from the Montosoli vineyard in 1975. The winery is housed in the elegant 14th-century Palazzo Altesi, reflecting its blend of medieval heritage and forward-thinking winemaking philosophy. Today, the estate continues under the ownership of Elisabetta Gnudi Angelini, with a winemaking team dedicated to maintaining its reputation as a benchmark producer in Montalcino. Made from 100% Sangiovese—the only grape permitted in Brunello di Montalcino—the 2019 vintage shows classic varietal expression shaped by Tuscany’s terroir. Critics have noted aromas of ripe currants, earthy nuances, and berry fruit, supported by full-bodied tannins and structure, while another tasting describes dusty earth, dried roses, wild berries, herbs, and licorice with vibrant acidity and a long finish. Brunello must age at least two years in oak plus additional bottle time, a process that contributes to its depth and aging potential.
