Brilliant Mistake is an enigmatic wine project which is on the irreversible countdown to cult wine status and blast-off is well under way. John & Stacy Reinert came from different backgrounds to establish this intoxicating up and coming winery in 2013, with two barrels of Cabernet Sauvignon. In 2015, after the first two vintages, and in a flash of brilliance Maayan Koschitzky was appointed winemaker. Maayan, who is renowned for cutting his teeth at Screaming Eagle & Dalla Valle, is a man for all seasons, as he also happens to be Director of Winemaking at the world acclaimed Atelier Melka and is furiously driven by the pursuit of perfection. With one eye always on excellence, production has slowly grown but still remains at a microscopic 300 cases, making this young upstart cult incredibly hard to find. Brilliant Mistake is at the tip of the spear of single varietal showstoppers, and the 97 Point 2022 Cabernet is poised to become one of those extremely elusive 'just beyond your fingertips' wines you can't quite get hold of.
