2019 Il Poggione Brunello di Montalcino

Located in Sant' Angelo in Colle in the commune of Montalcino, Tenuta Il Poggione was established at the end of the 19th century by Lavinio Franceschi, and is still owned today by the 5th generation of its founder, siblings Leopoldo and Livia Franceschi. One of the most highly regarded wineries in all of Tuscany, and one of the original three producers of Brunello di Montalcino, Tenuta Il Poggione has helped to establish the standards of excellence for Montalcino. Brunello is the prince of Montalcino wines, produced exclusively from Sangiovese grapes, picked by hand from the oldest vines on the estate. Il Poggione's 25–60 year-old vines produce incredibly powerful, majestic wines, as evidenced by the fabulous 96 Point 2019 vintage. Il Poggione is a long-time favorite of Graileys members, producing some of the most glorious and competitively priced Brunellos that money can buy.
