The 2019 Stonestreet Upper Barn Chardonnay is a high-elevation, single-vineyard Chardonnay from Sonoma County crafted by Stonestreet Estate Vineyards, a producer founded in 1989 by wine pioneer Jess Jackson after acquiring the historic Zellerbach winery; the estate spans roughly 1,000 acres across the Mayacamas foothills with vineyards planted between about 400 and 2,400 feet, creating diverse microclimates that shape the wines’ complexity. The Upper Barn site—planted with some vines dating to 1982 and positioned around 1,800 ft elevation—yields low quantities of intensely concentrated fruit and is considered one of the estate’s crown-jewel bottlings. Recent vintages have been made under winemaker Lisa Valtenbergs, whose approach emphasizes mountain-grown purity and balance.
