Chave Côtes‑du‑Rhône “Mon Cœur”, an inspired négociant bottling from Jean‑Louis Chave—sixteenth-generation vigneron from a family rooted in the Rhône Valley since 1481. Crafted to highlight the soul of four distinctive terroirs around Châteauneuf‑du‑Pape—spanning Vinsobres, Visan, Buisson, and Estézargues—Mon Cœur is traditionally composed of roughly equal parts Syrah and Grenache (with Mourvèdre and Cinsault making up the rest), from vines aged 20–60 years. Jean‑Louis oversees every step: certified-organic farming, careful harvest from growers aligned with his philosophy, seamless fermentation in stainless steel, followed by aging in a blend of neutral oak barrels, demi-muids, and large foudres. The 2023 vintage bursts with pure black cherry and plum fruit, threaded with bay leaf, pepper, anise, and a whisper of smokiness. Medium- to full-bodied with polished tannins and vibrant acidity, it embodies balance without sacrificing vibrancy—truly a party-friendly Rhone that reflects the meticulous touch usually reserved for Chave’s Hermitage bottlings.
